About Us
The story of our founder, Tom Hiland, illustrates how the internet has made the world smaller, flatter and more
connected. It also illustrates how broken the US healthcare system has become, when after having insurance most of his
life, none of the major health insurers would provide affordable, adequate, individual, self-employed coverage for a
life-long heart murmur. They invoked the infamous "pre-condition" exclusion!
Facing staggering self-pay medical costs for valve replacement surgery in the US, up to $200,000, he turned to India for
the most cost-effective, quality solution after researching options across America and around the World.
In July 2005, Tom journeyed to New Delhi for the life-saving surgery, receiving the World's number one selling mitral
valve made by Edwards Lifesciences of Irvine, California. His cardio-thoracic surgeon was not only world renowned,
but a graduate of NYU Medical School, who practiced in New York before returning to India in 1988 to establish India's
leading heart-only hospital. Infection and Mortality Rates are less than one percent. This hospital has the distinction
of performing more procedures annually than America's top rated heart center, the Cleveland Clinic.

In June 2008, Tom returned to New Delhi for Total Knee Replacement, a quality of life enhancer that took away the
pain and improved his mobility, restoring the feeling that he was 10-years younger in ability to move around
without the ache and pain of bone-on-bone osteoarthritis.
This time, he arranged for India's leading knee-only, super-specialist to replace his knee for less than $8,000 USD
compared to estimates of over $60,000 from equally qualified American surgeons.
The big difference was that the Indian
surgeon and his team average over 120 knee replacements per month while the highest volume American surgeon would be
lucky to do 120 in a full year.
It's hard to believe, but quite true!
Oh yes, his new Nex-Gen, high-flex knee is
a product of Zimmer Orthopedics of Warsaw, Indiana!

After his heart surgery while recovering in the New Delhi hospital, Tom vowed to come home and create a facilitation
service to help fellow Americans without insurance find and arrange high quality, affordable treatments in India.
Now, he enjoys a certain satisfaction in delivering on that promise, receiving the many thankful emails and phone
calls of those who have used India America Global Solutions to arrange a surgery for 1/5th to 1/10th the cost of US
rip off rates for the self-pay. Canadians too, have used IAG Solutions to avoid long wait times in their system.
North Carolina and National Public Radio have reported Tom's journey to India on The Story with Dick Gordon.
